The fantastic fives have continued on their winning ways with a very good and tight win against Tuross at Moruya B.C. on Saturday to claim the overall title of district pennant champions. In front of a very vocal and large contingent of travelling Milton Ulladulla supporters, and led by a very convincing rink win by the four of Grabham/Hodge/Harris/and Patterson, the team qualified for the zone playoff on the following day with a 60-52 victory.
Sunday saw the team bus head south again to Moruya to face Bega in the zone playoff and despite a terrific rink win by Nino Barca's team of Mike Frame/Paul James/& Mick Sawicki, and with Grassy's team of Dave Munt, Rob Morton and Charlie Fucile tieing up their rink 21 all, we lost the overall score 55-66. The players played so well, and got tantalisingly close to winning the game but just could not put the opposition away. They should be very proud of the way they played and represented the club. The club is certainly proud to have them as ambassadors and hope they go on next year to clear the final hurdle and get to the State playoffs.
A big thank you from the players to all the supporters who travelled down to cheer them on, your support was invaluable. Before all this happened on the weekend, there was another real nail-biter mid-week in the major singles, when Graham Cooper and John Cleverly had a real ding dong battle which went right down to the wire. It took a very good last bowl and a lot of experience from John to take the game 31-30, with the score being a real reflection of the closeness of the game.

Mollymook Men
CHAMPIONSHIPS: The Major Singles saw newer bowler Dan Prestage play very well indeed to upset the very experienced Tony Hutchins 31/19 & enter the semi-final. Gary McGuire had a slow start against Dave Bradshaw until the score was 10 all after the 12th end. After that Gary was never headed, final score 31/21. Dave Harrison also had a slow start against Brian Thurecht, in fact it took 16 ends before they were 12 all. Thereafter Harro quietly went about his task by preventing any score from Brian for the next 5 ends & again had him on 14 for 4 ends, final Score 31/17. The match between Paul Barnes & Dave Clark was quite a struggle, lasting 36 ends. Paul prevailed 31/26. Round1 of the Mixed Pairs was played last Sunday, one only game was required by the draw: Di Hill & Col Milligan had a 25/16 win over Mike Hayes & newer bowler Denise Hayes who played some nice shots & had fun. Two early games of Round 2 joined them. Dave Harrison & Nola West-Newman def. Croc Dundas & Debbie Bowler 24/12 & the Brandleys with Ann as skip gave Ron Wall & Tracy Hoult quite a fright early until the score was 14 all after the 13th. A seven(!) against the Brandleys four ends later was the end for them, final score 26/15.
SOCIAL. Wednesday's nominated Triples jackpot day (thanks chefs for the barbecue) resulted in the $120 jackpot being won by Dave Bradshaw, Mike Hayes & Alan Montifiore with a +6 win over Wayne Drury, Bob Brooks & John Venn. Fridays Open Pairs had only 36 bowlers despite the jackpot being $1060 but it contined to elude them. The $120 prize for the 5 random ends went to Johns Wilton & Paul with a score of 16 (helped considerably by an 8 on the 15th) playing against Roy Booth & Geoff Travis. Marks HB SHOUT was won by Terry & Denise; The KENO voucher by Dave & Kerry. Fingers were crossed by Ron Wall & Rich but the jackpot stayed for next week when, rumour has it, if not won it will be split down to several lots & drawn until depleted. Bowlers be there!
