Captain Shazzles lost the toss and the girls were working against the wind in the first term, but the tenacity and determination of midfielders Kristelle, Amy and Lux saw the ball move flawlessly into the forward line where Lucy and Shan L were ready and waiting.
Wollongong Bulldogs were fierce in attack and managed to bag one major, with the score at 1-2 to 1-0. In the second quarter the youthful trio of Mia, Mel, and Meg doing well to clear the ball out of the centre and move it forward with the help of Regan.
Lucy was everywhere and fought hard to win the footy and Shan stopped the ball from moving into the Dockettes defensive 50, keeping the Bulldogs scoreless in the second term. Mel scored a major after the siren, taking the Dockettes to the lead 22 points to 6 at the main break.
The third quarter was much of the same. Lux was strong in the ruck and onballers Amy and Regan drove the ball forward. The combination of Britt, Jodie, and newcomer Evie in the backline kept the Bulldogs scoreless.
Moving into the final term, the coaching staff moved Shazzles up the ground and gave star full forward Shan L a rest. The young guns kept the ball moving and the Dockettes managed to bag another two majors while holding the Dogs scoreless to win 7-9 to 1-0.
Next week the Dockettes play against the Crows at Albion Park.
