The scholarship is designed to support members, recent and present, to develop skills related to theatre and musical theatre.

This year a total of $2000 is available. Successful individual applicants will be awarded financial support of up to $500 for activities that develop theatre, musical theatre performance or production skills.

Previous scholarship winner Rocco Forrester-Sach started busking in Ulladulla at just four-years-old on a ukulele, and has gone on to tour Sydney with LOUD! Theatre Company.

At six-years-old Rocco started guitar lessons and continued his busking. His first role was in a musical at Ulladulla Public School as a reporter, and little Jack Horner when he was nine-years-old.

Rocco joined follies when he was 14 and starred as Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid.

Since then has been in numerous productions in Milton-Ulladulla such as Kiss Me Kate, Joseph and Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, Little shop of Horrors and West Side Story.

Rocco has also toured Sydney with LOUD! Theatre Company in their productions of Suessical, where he played General Gengis Khan Schmitz and Grinch and their production of Footloose, in which he played Willard Hewwit.

Since year 11, Rocco has been studying in Sydney at the Mcdonald Colllege of Performing Arts, and has been involved in their productions of Grease, playing Vince Fontaine and the latest production, 13, where he played Brett.

"Performing has always been a way of expressing who I am as a person and experiencing other lives beyond mine," Rocco said.

"In playing characters on stage I can totally immerse myself into that character, becoming a part of them and delving into their way of life. It allows me to explore life beyond my own."

Although Rocco's goal is to make it on Broadway or be a professional screen actor, his main incentive has always been to allow an audience to escape into the world he's creating with his craft.

"Doesn't matter if it's the Milton Theatre or the Roslyn Packer theatre, every audience deserves to be taken on an adventure," Rocco said.

Rocco's dream role is Phantom in Phantom of the Opera.

Rocco said his favourite part of Follies was the close community cast in every show.

"My favourite experience in the Follies, hands down, has got to be playing Pharaoh in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat," he said.

"It was a truly cheeky role that you could experiment with and I constantly played off the audience."

Anything Goes

It's been a big weekend for Milton Follies with their opening of Anything Goes.

More than four hundred people were treated to the best young talent the area has to offer as they danced, sang and performed at the Milton Theatre.

Follies spokesperson Ruth Myers said the show was well-received on opening night.

"Audience response has been overwhelmingly positive, with patrons loving the joyful energy, enthusiasm, music, costumes, attention to detail, high production values, community spirit and incredible talent - established and emerging - on display," she said.

"With only three shows to go, you'll have to be quick to get your tickets."
