"Mayor Findley is meeting with the Hon. Minister Pavey (Minister for Water, Property and Housing) to further plead the case for an opening to be enacted," a statement from the council read.

"Correspondence received by council on June 4, 2019, from Crown Lands, has requested that council provide additional information for consideration.

"This is being progressed as a high priority matter by staff and will be forwarded to Crown Lands shortly.

"Council are hoping this is a positive step forward given advice previously received from agencies, was that their position had not changed and would not be supporting a planned opening."

Ms Hancock said she understood the meeting with Minister Pavey may not go ahead.

"I understand there was a late disclosure form submitted yesterday for the Mayor to meet with the minister about Lake Conjola," she said.

"It was added to a disclosure submitted weeks ago - the original purpose of the meeting was to speak with Gareth and the minister about affordable housing.

"It had nothing to do with Lake Conjola.

"It didn't come through me or my office, I was not invited to the meeting, but my understanding now is that meeting has been cancelled - or Gareth has had to cancel."

Minister Pavey's office has been asked to confirm whether the meeting will go ahead.
