Wow, two great semi-finals of the Minor Singles played during the week and it is just a shame that two players had to fall by the wayside. Saturday saw our very own greenkeeper's helper, Adam Best, line up against a very good draw bowler in Pete Sneddon. It promised to be a very tight contest and it did not disappoint. The game seesawed from the beginning with neither bowler being able to get a bit of a break. After 20 ends the score was tied, then they traded shot for shot until Adam got to 28 and Pete sat on 29. The last two ends were edge of the seat stuff with Adam picking up 2 to take him to 30, then it all came down to the fat lady singing, and as it turned out she sang for Adam, who picked up another two to take the game 31-29. A great game and well done to both players. Sunday turned on great weather for the second semi-final between Craig Barca and Stan Croker and the quality of bowls was as good if not better than the Saturday's performance. Stan got out of the blocks fairly quickly and managed to build a bit of a lead but Craig was hanging onto his tail like a terrier, and by the time Stan had got to 20 so had Craig. Then it was on for young and old with Craig getting a bit of a lead and Stan clawing it back but the pieman just could not sustain the challenge, with Craig slowly drawing away to take the game 31-22. So next Sunday sees two very popular bowlers battling it out to see who will be this year's minor singles champion. It promises to be a great game, and it would be lovely to see a big crowd there to cheer for their favourite bowler. On the notice-board (you all know where that is don't you, it is on the way to the change room) the entry for the minor pairs is up, and also the entry for the mixed pairs and mixed fours. The mixed you can enter either a full team or do a single entry and see who turns up. Make sure you read the conditions of play for the fours as there are some restrictions.

MIXED PAIRS. The semi-final was played last Sunday in brilliant Mollymookian sunshine, quite an improvement over the previous Tuesday when 80 mm of rain fell & postponed round 2 of the club Random Triples. The fourth game of the Mixed Pairs quarterfinal, played Friday 7th resulted in 24/16 win to Dave Clark (S) & Janine Boyd against Sid Brand & Lyn Dolbel. They played against the "red hot" Dan Prestage & Lyn Youren in Sunday's semi-final & after eleven ends were down 25/2! A two on the 12th end followed by a four on the 13th obviouly gave Dave & Janine hope & they pressed on, gradually increasing the pressure on Dan & lyn. Indeed the scores were 25/18 after the 19th & 25/21 after the 20th, needing a 4 to "stay alive". A two only resulted & an incredible game of bowls finished. Lyn & Dan were kept on 25 for eleven ends, luckily for them, just enough. In the other match Ron Wall & Tracy Hoult had a 34/ 16 win over a determined John Wilton & Lyn Newton but it was not their day. Final next Sunday.
SOCIAL: Wednesday Triples had a smaller field than usual however visitors Jeff Wall (Thirroul) & Rob Lackman (Stawell Vic) & Ray the fill-in green keeper helped with the numbers. The lucky rink went to a fours match deservably won by Dave Harrison, Dave Adamson, Mark Sommerville & Ray versus John Wilton, Robin Oke, your scribe who helped Harro's mob more than his own team & Ron Wynter; score 33/9! Friday Open Pairs had a much larger roll-up including Dave Chandler & Clayton King (M-U). Ron Wall with Dennis Jones won the weekly $120 prize with a score of 10 on the five random ends; the jackpot at $160 was not won although the Frasers had their fingers crossed after a +6 (17/11) win over Craig Lees & Les Dunn. Mark's H.B SHOUT went to Geoff & Roy; the $15 KENO voucher to expert Kenoists Terry & Brain. Coming events: Monday June 17th Pennants Recognition Day: This is a mixed event. Start at 10.30 am with 10 ends/lunch/10 more ends. July 6th: Bowl Premier League is at Mollymook that Saturday.

Ulladulla Darts
Hey darties, we are heading into the second half of the competition and its heating up nicely in all grades, men's start back up on Tuesday June 18. Congratulations to President Bailey with his 180 on Thursday night in the mixed.
Some announcements and reminders from the recent monthly meeting: - Warilla return visit is scheduled for 16, 17 & 18 August - please let the committee know of your intention to attend ASAP. Memorial Darts is booked in for Saturday 29th June at Mollymook Bowling Club, with names to be in by 9.30am for a 10 o'clock start. Ensure the results sheets and monies are delivered to the appropriate address in a timely manner to ensure cash is collected and results are tabulated. Consideration should be given to ALL players - including your team-mates - when the complimentary snacks are delivered on competition nights. Please remember they are snacks and not to be considered your evening meal...there is enough to share around, and make sure you consider the people scoring matches at this time too.
Nominated doubles venues are as follows...Women - Molly Bowlo, Men - Star Hotel and Mixed at Molly Bowlo. The nominated players for the Mens competition matches must be registered players for that team - not fill-ins. Teams cannot have fill-in players for finals matches if they haven't qualified enough players to play in those matches. (as an example in the mixed competition if your team only has 2 women having played the required number of games you cannot ask a player to fill-in just to make-up the numbers). If there are any questions, queries or misunderstandings about this please contact the SSDDA committee
