Justin Barry Southan was sentenced at Milton Local Court on Thursday, July 4.
Magistrate Gabriel Fleming sentenced the 44-year-old to an intensive corrections order of 18 months with home detention served concurrently.
In November, Southan had pleaded not guilty to multiple drug supply charges.
He adjusted his pleas in January, pleading guilty to one charge of supplying an indictable quantity of cannabis, one charge of cultivating a prohibited plant, less than an indictable amount, and dealing with proceeds of crime.
He maintained one not guilty plea and a hearing about the disputed facts was heard at Milton Local Court on Thursday, May 23.
During his sentencing Magistrate Fleming said she had found the offence proven at the hearing. The dispute was over cannabis found in a fridge and shed, she said.
"There was over seven kilograms all up," she said. "And a very large amount of money.
"It's not the worst drug, but it's illegal."
Magistrate Fleming warned him against re-offending.
"If you break this order ... you go to the parole board."
According to police facts tendered to the court, investigators intercepted a number of coded messages between Southan and his co-accused in July, 2018.
A search warrant was executed at his home on August 8. Southan disclosed there was "hydroponically" grown cannabis in a small garden shed at the back of the property, police facts said.
Inside police found a shed lined with reflective material, suspended heat lamps above eight mature cannabis plants and 10 immature plants between six to 10 centimetres in height.
Police estimated the plants to be worth $45,000. A "diary with a growing regime" was also discovered.
More than seven kilograms of the drug was seized during the arrest along with $7550 found inside a baby formula container in the shed.
Southan told police he was the only person who had access to the garden shed, locked with a combination only known to him.
He was arrested and charged in a strike force drug bust in August, 2018.
