The Milton Ulladulla Orchid Society will host its annual Winter Show of Flowering Orchids in Ulladulla over this weekend.
Orchid Society member Gary McConnell has been part of the society since 2008 and is looking forward to their first display of the year.
The former Air Force loadmaster grew a few orchids when he lived in the Richmond area. However, nothing "seemed to flower".
Since moving to Merry Beach his orchids have blossomed. His garden includes slipper, cymbidium, oncidium and australian dendrobium orchids.
Now has has too many to count.
"It sucked me in," he said.
Mr McConnell had champion orchids at the 2015 and 2017 shows. He said this year's weather was a bit dry, but he was wary of over-watering the plants.
"You can love an orchid to death, but they like to be left alone," he said.
"Fingers crossed the plants are in full flower when you need them."
Mr McConnell encouraged the public to visit the show, held upstairs in the Civic Centre from 10 to 3pm on Saturday, and 9am to 2pm on Sunday.
"There are so many different varieties of orchids between our winter and spring shows. We cover the full gamut."
On both days there will be orchids, posies and flower stems for sale. Also a lucky door prize and a raffle of flowering orchids.
Entry is $2, children are free.
