With the Club Winter Carnival in full swing we have been enjoying the company of many new and old bowling friends from near and far. Our Trivia night was held last Saturday, thank you to all who supported the evening and especially to compere, Daren Clear (assisted by his family Sharon, Jacob and Jessica). The questions stumped a few teams here and there but must have suited the Ladies from Mollymook who took out the first place prizes. Lots of fun and laughs were shared by all. Also, thank you to all our members who donated supper and raffle prizes. We return to our regular bowling days on Tuesday July 30, don't forget to get your name in. The nominations for our 2019/2020 committee are closed and the list of nominees are now on the board, which reminds us that the AGM is on Monday August 26, upstairs meeting room at 10am. Due to the Garney Noble Men's Pairs being played the will be no women's bowls on Thursday August 15. The Richard Dickson Major Minor Shield is to be played on Thursday, August 22, further details on the structure of the day will be announced when we resume. The entries for our Triples Tournament Friday September 13 are low, so please consider putting a team together and entering. Continue enjoying the Carnival and remember the Dinner Dance is on Saturday night $15 pp, for players only, please pay at the front desk.

DISTRICT PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIP. Played all last weekend at Mollymook the Mollymook 2019 pairs champs, Ray Flinn (skip) & Andrew Jarvis played well & convincingly reached the final. They won 25/16 win against Berry in the first round; a 22/14 win against Culburra in the quarter final and in the semi-final versus St. Georges Basin had an impressive 23/9 win. The final commenced Sunday afternoon with the Mollymook pair winning the toss against the Nowra Ex Servo's pair of Jim Jamieson (S) & Allan Furness. They then were denied the mat for almost half the match! Both Ray & Andy were still bowling well enough, but they were continually thwarted by the Ex Servos pair with brilliant bowling, when holding multiple shots. With wry smiles & the occasional slow shake of the head in disbelief of the Ex-Servo bowlers' skill, the match continued but finished a bit early, score 28/6. Bowls co-ordinator Ron Wall made the presentations in the absence of a district representative. Skip Jim thanked Mollymook for its hospitality, the sportsmanship during play & he "loved" the condition of the grass green.

The winter carnival kicked off this week in brilliant weather, with conditions a little bit windy in the mornings but clearing up to wonderfully fine days. The prize money has been shared equally between visitors and locals, with a lot of glowing compliments regarding the condition of the greens (a big thank you to Pete & Adam), and a lot of friendships being renewed with a fair bit of friendly rivalry on the greens. We only hope that the weather holds for the second week with the forecast sounding very promising. Now just a few reminders for the locals:- the notice for the A.G.M. is on the board, and so any notices of motions that need to be presented at the meeting should be given to the secretary within the required time limit; also the minor pairs is about to start so check out the dates; the final of the Club Triples is to be played on Sunday 4th August, it should be a ripper of a game; the mixed pairs and fours entry is on the board with plenty of time to find a team and don't forget, single entries are perfectly acceptable.
