This is the kind of weather that makes you want to go for a bike ride around our local towns and bike tracks.
However, there are people around who also want to go for a ride but do not have bikes, so instead of purchasing one at the local bike shop they look for a bike that is unattended and easy to get at.
If there is a good chance of being undetected while stealing the bike, then your unattended bike may be stolen during the daylight hours.
If you leave your bike in the front yard, on the front verandah, down the side of your house or any other place that can be seen from the road, then a crook might wait until day turns to night and offers a cloak of darkness to help avoid detection.
It doesn't really matter if your bike is stolen during the day or the night because it is still stolen.
They say, "Prevention is better than cure", I say, "Prevention is cheaper than cure".
Secure your bike/s - put them away in the shed, garage or in the laundry.
Anywhere that affords security of the bikes within your property.
Fail to pay for fuel
Ladies and gentlemen - it is an offence in this state and possibly every other state in the known universe to pull up to a petrol station, place fuel into your car and then drive away without paying.
If you go into a petrol station with the intention of failing to pay for the fuel you now have to run the gauntlet of CCTV cameras, eye witnesses and other processes that will identify your vehicle and you as the offender.
NSW Police have a system in place whereby petrol stations report all fail to pays and here in the Shoalhaven all reports are investigated.
"Don't be a fool. Pay for your fuel."
Remember you can Dob in a Druggie any time you like by contacting Nowra Police or ringing Crime Stoppers. Do not drink and drive. As always, in case of an emergency call 000.
