The members of the Rural Fire Service (RFS) all felt special when words of thanks and gifts came their way.
Many members of the community of all ages wanted to say 'thanks for keeping us safe'.
From a local primary school to local businesses many people wanted the thank the firefighters for their efforts during the testing Mount Kingiman fire in August 2018.
Ask the volunteers and they will say 'there is no need to thank us' but they do appreciate the acts of kindness they are given.
Weeks afterwards the volunteers were still getting stopped in the streets by complete strangers who wanted to thank them for their efforts.
Students from Milton Public School, some who were directly affected by the fire, made the Milton Brigade members' day when the arrived at the station with a pile of cards and gifts after the fire.
