A male and female NSW Ambulance Paramedic were called to a motel at Burrill Lake around 4pm on August 12 to treat the man who was suffering a mental health issue.
It is alleged while paramedics were treating the man he lashed out and struck the male paramedic in the groin.
The patient was eventually transported to Shoalhaven District Hospital where he is undergoing treatment for his condition.
The paramedic, despite suffering some discomfort, is reported to be okay.
The incident highlights the dangers paramedics face on a daily basis while simply doing their jobs.
Police say they expect to lay charges of assault against the 19-year-old man.
