Our Number 2 Pennant Team have returned from Pottsville following the State Pennant Playoffs. Our ladies played great lawn bowls displaying excellent sportsmanship, friendship and camaraderie, supporting each other all the way. Unfortunately with a strong sectional draw they fell short of progressing to the final round, missing out on second place in the section by one shot and only just falling short of a great come back win over the eventual winners Cabramatta. Our ever present supporters were there riding every bowl and encouraging the team throughout the games. Ron Hanley must be thanked for his great input as the team coach, and President Cheryl, for managing all of us! Well done girls you did the club proud ... and sorry Arthur, "we didn't bring home the bacon!"

Results w/e August 17. This week's social bowls has been interrupted by the club Garney Noble Pairs which was held on August 14-15.
Good weather and a field of 38 teams took to the greens for 6 games of intense competition. If I was a betting man I would have done my money.
From the outset fancied teams were brushed aside by players with determination and luck. As the games progressed it provided the interested spectators an escape to what might have been a dull day.
The end came swiftly for some. Others battled on. The competition suddenly became a matter of existence.
As I stood at the result board I could see a pattern developing. Teams who felt vulnerable suddenly resurrected their chances with a timely win to keep them in the game. There were those hell bent on disrupting the chances of others, while there were those whose stamina didn't quite stand up to the test.
Results for the competition are:
Prizes were made up of 6 individual game winners and they were:
Warren Haviland and Graham Toottle from Dapto Citz with a + 16

CHAMPIONSHIPS: The final of the Major/Minor pairs resumed play last Friday. Gary McGuire (S) & Darcy Nelson started with a handy 9/2 lead with five ends against Sid Brand & John Paul, from the previous start. Sid & JP surrendered a 2 on the opening end but then held them on 11 for the next 4 ends & be just 11/8 down on the 10th. Gary & Darcy snapped out of that situation with gusto & scored well on the next four ends. A 6 on the 14th made the end result a foregone conclusion & Sid ran up the white flag on the 19th, a very creditable result to the winners.
Major Fours: The quarter final has been decided. Previously reported Ron Wall's team had a win against Mike Haye's team, this Saturday Gary McGuire/Kerry Jones/Paul Barnes/Ted Fraser had a 29/12 win vs Al Wynter/ Darcy Nelson/Dave Clark/ Mike Keegan & will be the team to watch. Krusty Watson/ Graham Boots/ John Bisset/Dave Beavis battled extremely well vs Brian Thurecht/Craig Lees/Al Montifiore/Col Milligan but jjust went down 19/18 & John Wilton/Jack Field/Dan Prestage/Richard Nesbit could be another "dark horse' team to watch, they defeated Dave Henry/Eric Woodburn/ Mike Lynn/ Chris Machon 25/7.
Veterans Singles. Gary McGuire entered the final with a close 1 1/2 to 1/2 sets win vs John Wilton . He will meet Ted Fraser after Ted's 2/1 tie break win against Al Wynter
