In May last year Dean and Alina Howcroft flew to Panama for radical stem cell treatment to treat the disease which interferes with nerve impulses in the brain and spinal cord. There is no known cure for MSwhich has taken a physical and emotional toll on Dean.
The married couple aim to get Dean the treatment again and are reaching out to the local community to help raise funds through another gala night. A single treatment costs $38,000.
"Successful treatment for me isn't about achieving major things like climbing mount Everest. It's about the little things that most people take for granted," Mr Howcroft said in a statement.
"Successful treatment will mean I'll be able to walk the length of the beach, hand in hand with my wife, with our kids in tow."
The gala night will be held at the Ulladulla Civic Centre on Saturday, November 9 from 6pm. It is strictly an over 18s event with red carpet formal attire. Tickets from $100. Visit: https://www.stickytickets.com.au/90927.
Mr Howcroft continues to document his journey to create awareness to the treatment. Search Dean Howcroft MS Journey on Facebook or visit https://www.facebook.com/deansmsjourney.
