Our local running group, the Ulladulla RATS (Runners And TriathleteS), kept on keeping on this week, despite the unpredictable September weather and winds.
On Saturday, our RATS in Perth participated in the Burwood Peninsula parkrun, which is a beautiful course and location. As pictured, Martin, Lauri and Barb were rugged up. It was a little cool at four degrees but warmed up to a glorious 22 at midday. Martin came third in the Burwood parkrun with a time of 21:24. Barb Maxwell ran a personal best for the season and achieved an age group record with a time of 31:24. Lauri walked the course in a time of 41:14. All were very happy.
On Sunday morning, about a dozen RATS arrived at Maccas in Ulladulla for the Sunday adventure. There was a mixture of runners, walkers and a cyclist. We were looking sharp in our red RATS gear thanks to the efforts of Mike Ryan and RATS president Nicola Rabbett, who organised more apparel for our members.
A chilly wind was keeping it very fresh, but in no time as we headed up Green Street we were parting with our outer layers. The route we took continued up past the waste depot and onto Slaughterhouse Road, so we could enjoy the scenic Windwood Way. A few of the eager beavers headed up to the highway and back to Millards Creek for a 15 kilometre return, while others completed a distance of 10 to 12 kilometres.
We all gathered back at Mavericks for warm coffee and conversation.
We wish John well for his surgery on Monday and are hoping for a great run for our three participants in Blackmores Half Marathon next Sunday. Run hard, ladies!
For next Sunday's run on September 15, please meet at the Lions Park in Burrill for a 6.30am start.
