The Global #ClimateStrike, held in Ulladulla, brought hundreds of people together in solidarity to show politicians they want action on the fossil fuel industries.
The group made traffic pause for a few minutes along the Princes Highway as they marched south from the Civic Centre through the CBD. Business owners, employees and residents stopped to watch as some cars tooted their support.
More than 2000 businesses across Australia, including some in Milton and Ulladulla, closed to allow employees to attend the climate rally.
Milton mother Amanda Walsh spoke to the crowd about the need for a change in policy from major political parties and the government.
"We need a government who cares as much about these things as we do," she said to cheers.
"It's our final wake up."
She praised the crowd for their peaceful protests reminding them of the impact the suffragette and civil rights movements have had on the world.
Budawang Noel Butler gave the welcome to country. He inspired the crowd for acknowledging the problem and called on them to "not accept it".
"We need to stand up for what we are leaving our grandchildren."
