The Mollymook Surf Life Saving Club volunteer lifesavers patrol the weekends and public holidays and professional lifeguards patrol the weekdays.
The $4,000 fee for the lifeguards is provided by local businesses who are aware of the necessity of this valuable service which they supported for the past years. Many local hospitality businesses spend many thousands of dollars encouraging people to visit the area and enjoy the beaches
A survey of the people on the beach during holidays revealed that many families drove from Nowra and Batemans Bay to enjoy safe swimming at Mollymook.
There was also a lot of local grandparents who appreciated being able to take the grandchildren to a safe beach environment while the parents are working.
Also during these holiday periods many locals entertain visiting friends and relatives, all of whom expect the beach to be patrolled for there safety.
