On Wednesday 2nd October, 47 Beachside Veteran golfers played a 9 Hole Stableford for the October Monthly Medal. Winning the day with 24 points, was John Hayes with second place going to Shaun Carter with 23 points, in a count-back from third placed Roger Halls. Balls were given out for scores down to 19 points, with Wildcards going to David Anderson and John Payne. Nearest the Pins were awarded to Ian Reed on the 1st, Peter Frost on the 2nd, Greg Wood on the 6th, Gary King on the 7th, and Cliff Workman on the 9th.
On Tuesday 1st October, a Mixed Two Person Ambrose was hosted by the lady golfers. Winners on the day were Penny and David Blunden with 36 net 28.25; with second place going to Karen and Reg March with 37 net 29.12; and third place went to Doreen Ralph and Cliff Workman with 37 net 29.25. Thank you to Mollymook Cellars, Mollymook Golf Club and Beachside Men's Veterans for the donation of Voucher prizes for first and second place getters. Next week, 9th October will be a 9 hole Single Stableford for the first round of the Alan May Holden Trophy.
NSW Senior Masters
The 2019 NSW Seniors Masters Championship will be held at Mollymook (Hilltop) Golf Club on 18th and 19th October. The golf professionals in the field will include Rodger Davis, Peter Fowler, Peter O'Maley, Peter Senior, Michael Harwood, Terry Price and over sixty other professionals. There will be prizemoney of $25,000 for the tournament. This is the sixth year the event has been hosted at Hilltop Golf Course and one of the favourite events for the golf professionals. David Hando is the defending champion and is looking forward to defending his title. This event is great for the community as it brings exposure to a brilliant golf course. The pro-am format brings amateurs and professionals from around the country to the region. If you would like to play with a golf professional on the Friday and/ or Saturday, contact Barry West at Mollymook Golf Club on 44552055. BSP Advisory Group & South Coast Business and Financial Solutions has had a long association of sponsoring this event. They will have a marquee behind the 9th green and drinks will be available for clients. They hope to see you there and support the community by watching and playing in the event.

VALE: Sadly it is reported that Bob Cole has lost his painful battle with cancer, passing away in Milton Hospital last Friday night. A "one of a kind", he will continue to be missed both on the greens & in the clubhouse. Our thoughts go out to his family. R.I.P Bob.
CHAMPIONSHIPS: The final of the Dave Tucker memorial Minor Singles will be played this afternoon (Wed 9th) between Dave Harrison & Mike Keegan. We wish them good bowling. The Minor Singles have moved on to the semi-final with Dave Bradshaw & Dan Prestage defeating Ted Fraser & John Bisset 27/10 & a win to Terry Hill with Snow Dillon vs Darcy Nelson & Brian Thurecht (21/17), by denying them the mat for the last four ends.
SOCIAL: Wednesday's Club Selected triples lucky rink vouchers were won by Gary McGuire, Hardy Hansen & Mark Sommerville with a 19/15 win over John Wilton, Dave Harrison & Les Dunn. The lucky losers drink vouchers went to Nick & Darcy.who succumbed (just) to Wallie & Clarkie 26/22. Friday Open Pairs with a meagre $80 jackpot fololwing the big one last week was not won, however John's Wilton & Paul took out the $120 weekly prize to top-up their share of the big-one a week earlier. Mark's HB SHOUT went to Haggis & Omar & the KENO voucher to Sid & Dennis the Menace. Incidentally the grass green is due to close fo its annual maintenance, bowlers get your names down early please from herein.

Tuesday 1st October: Today was the first round of our Club Triples with one game played. Match called the game as 2 bowls 18 ends, wished us good luck and we hit the greens. Jo Cattley, Robyn Taylor and Liz Wootton versus Gerri Miller, Margaret Penfold and Belinda Barca. The underdogs had an outstanding game and knocked out one of the top contenders. After 16 ends Jo conceded, and the game was won by Gerri, Marg and Belinda. Val Marczan, Mary McPherson and Sue Jamieson celebrated their Birthdays this week. Happy Birthday to you all. The social ladies had good numbers with 28 players enjoying the morning, with 4 games of triples and 1 game of pairs being played. Rink Winners: Frances Mazurek and Toni Hanley. Runners Up: Jan Winter, Trudy Piazza and Barb Daniels. Raffle Winners: Billy the barman, Robyn Taylor and Lynne Boyd.
Thursday 3rd October: President Robyn welcomed a full house of ladies waiting to play the quarter finals of the Club Triples. Match introduced the games and we made our way out on the greens. All games were very close, congratulation to all teams that progressed to the semi-finals. Jeane Thompson, Roz Jamieson and Toni Hanley defeated Jane Hawkins, Barbara Daniels and Shauna Geraghty. Mary McPherson, Doreen Dickson and Ralda Graham defeated Frances Mazurek, Daphne Menzies and Carol Monte. Carmen Colusso, Maureen Fletcher and Kath Fraser defeated Wendy Bazett, Lynne Boyd and Elwin Clark. Cherilyn Brace, Sandra Crimmins and Jan Winter defeated Belinda Barca, Margaret Penfold and Gerri Miller. Rink Winners: Belinda Smithers, Nerida Moroney and Rachel Daniels. Rink Runners Up: Jeane Thompson, Roz Jamieson and Toni Hanley. Raffle Winners: Toni Hanley, Lynne Boyd and Cherilyn Brace.

Not a lot happening this week with regard to championships, I suppose some day in the not too distant future we will see the final of the club triples. I am hoping it will be before your correspondent gets old and grey, so there is just a few reminders for you guys to put away in your memories. First off, this Friday & Saturday sees the Fishers Ghost travelling bowlers at our club again with the big day being Saturday morning, where we are hoping for two full greens and a big roll-up. The visitation is being sponsored by Ingenia at Conjola with a very generous amount to be won on the day shared between cash and raffle prizes. It is not too late to get your names down for both Fri. morning and the Sat. so get in there and enjoy the days. The ladies "Colours for Cancer " day is Tues. 22nd Oct.- the entry is still on the board so get your names in. Presentation night is Sat. 22nd November - you need to book and pay at the front desk - this is always a great night with lots of dancing styles on display, so make sure you are booked in and paid up. Twenty three Roadrunners turned out for Sunday morning's social bowls. Three games of triples and one pairs game were played with the following results: Sue Dent/Dot Pannowitz, Eric King and Craig Lees 35 accounted for Ralph Gabbott, Robin Oke and David White 14. Geoff Travis and Geoff Watson 39 trounced Cathy Wisniewski and David Henry 7. Dennis Jones, Darren Jones and Kerry Jones 19 went down to Ted Fraser, Bob Brooks and Bina Fraser 31. Les Dunn, Mike Lynn and Gordon Lang 19 held off Gary Wisniewski, Jeff Deal and Paul Barnes 17. The winners of the lucky rink and this week's fresh chickens were Ted Fraser, Bob Brooks and Bina Fraser while the lucky losers, getting half their game fees back were Ralph Gabbott, Robin Oke and David White. Raffle winners included Sue Dent, Gary Wisniewski, Darren Jones, Rebecca Moon, Dennis Jones and Barbara, a visitor to the Club. Next Sunday we will be contesting our $150 half jackpot followed by a BBQ lunch with the cards being called for a 9.00 start.
