Mollymook Surf Lifesavers David Tudor-Jones and Tony Ireland are taking on the pinnacle in endurance surf sports, the iconic Coolangatta Gold.
The race is a 23km surf ski paddle, 2.1km beach run, 3.5km swim, 6.1km board paddle and a gruelling 7.1km beach run to finish.
It should take them around five hours to complete.
Tudor-Jones is taking part in his third Coolangatta Gold and is keen to do well.
"My training has been focused on not having a bad leg," Tudor-Jones said.
Tudor-Jones is an accomplished surf ski paddler and has been training hard on all aspects of the event.
Ireland is racing the Gold for the first time.
"I was impressed with how well Dave did last year, and wanted to have a go myself," Ireland said.
Also racing for Mollymook nippers in the Youth Challenge is Matilda Buttell.
The course consists of a 300m soft sand run, a 400m swim, 400m run, 500m board and then a 50m run to conclude at the elite finish arch.
