Tom Engelbrecht and Matthew Gilkes led they way with bat and ball for NSW/ACT inToyota Second XI match at Phillip Oval, Canberra which ended yesterday (October 10).
Tasmania, early in the match, batted first and declared at 8/510.
Engelbrecht got a five-wicket haul and then Gilkes smashed a century (147 runs)
Engelbrecht led the way with the ball, but his five wickets did come at a price which was 145 runs.
Gilkes, on the back of his incredible one-day form for NSW, made sure the NSW/ACT team, got off to a strong start on Wednesday.

The star batsmen opened the innings and soon had the run rate ticking over.
He belted 13 boundaries and one six on his way to an impressive triple-figure score.
Gilkes only needed to face 152 balls to score his century
The Ulladulla product, like any good batsman, then consolidated his innings after reaching his century.
He was pushing towards the 150 run mark but fell three runs short.
Importantly, he showed the NSW Sheffield Shield selectors that he can grind out an innings.
Gilkes was out in the middle for 362 minutes and faced 264 balls.
He hit 19 boundaries and a six in his impressive innings.
Engelbrecht also dug in with the bat.
Tom went onto make 46 runs which included five boundaries and NSW/ACT was all out for 359 with Gilkes the top scorer.
NSW/ACT was forced to follow on yesterday (October 10) and Gilkes took charge again.
Gilkes soon had 45 runs on the board, which included four boundaries and six and another half century was on the cards.
The in-form batsman then reached another half century.
However, all good things come to an end and he was out for 72 runs.
Gilkes' second innings effort included six boundaries and a six.
NSW/ACT was 1/141 when stumps were called and Tasmania recorded a first innings victory.
