Lachlan has participated in Youth Parliament and is hoping to focus on finding ways to attract young people to stay in and study in regional NSW.
"Volunteering and running events with the Rural Fire Service and Scouts Australia has given Lachlan the experience to become a leader in his community," South Coast MP Shelley Hancock said.
"I am delighted he has been selected as a member of the taskforce - he has a lot of knowledge to share about his community, his dedication to volunteering and leadership skills means he has a great deal to share with the regional taskforce and state wide."
Minister for Regional Youth Bronnie Taylor welcomed members to their first Regional Youth Taskforce meeting last weekend, where they discussed the key issues facing young people in the regions and proposed solutions.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro congratulated Lachlan Page from Ulladulla on being named to the Taskforce.
"I was excited to meet Lachlan at their first meeting as part of the Regional Youth Taskforce and to hear from them about the causes that they want to champion as members of this group," Mr Barilaro said.
"The survival and prosperity of our regional towns relies on the teenagers and young adults of today, so it makes sense to give those people a voice at the highest level of Government.
Member for South Coast Shelley Hancock said having a local member on the taskforce would ensure the issues facing young people in NSW are heard and considered by Government.
"With Lachlan as a member on the Taskforce, I am so pleased that young people from our region will have a voice at the table," Mrs Hancock said.
The Regional Youth Taskforce will meet four times a year.
The NSW Government is also reviewing applications to Round Three of the Stronger Country Communities Fund, with half of the available $100 million funding to be allocated to youth related projects and programs across regional NSW.
