Renee Baillie, 29, will spend at least nine months behind bars.
Baillie was stopped by police in Village Drive, Ulladulla around 3.15pm on May 14 after an in-car automatic number plate recognition device alerted officers the vehicle could possibly be driven by a disqualified driver.
She had two male passengers in the car and after they allegedly gave officers false details a search of the car was undertaken.
In the rear footwell behind the driver's seat, officers found a Louis Vuitton handbag and inside they found a black plastic box with two resealable plastic bags containing a crystal-like substance. It was later found to be 7.5 grams of the drug methylamphetamine.
There was no identification in the handbag.
Baillie was arrested and taken to Ulladulla Police Station for an oral fluid test, maintaining she had borrowed the car from a friend and was "unsure" who owned the handbag.
In late May and early June police recorded a number of telephone conversations Baillie made with another woman and man at the Silverwater Correctional Centre, where the discovery of the drugs by police and the use of a Louis Vuitton handbag were discussed.
On one occasion Baillie was also instructed on "collecting outstanding moneys" over what police believed were for drug transaction-related debts.
In Nowra Local Court on Monday, October 14, Magistrate Gabriel Fleming sentenced Baillie to 18 months' jail with a non-parole period of nine months.
