The proposed boundary changes were approved by council at the end of August and are now open for public feedback.
Council are required to ensure there is no more than a 10 per cent difference in population between wards. Because recent census data showed a 15 per cent variance, Shoalhaven Council is required to change the boundaries for the next election.
The proposal's biggest impact will be to the 2,500 Nowra residents who have been moved from ward two to ward one. It essentially removes the ward boundary split that ran through the middle of the Nowra CBD.
Other large changes are for residents in Nowra Hill, South Nowra, Longreach and Tolwong areas being moved from ward one to ward two.
Another significant adjustment is the 1,980 residents of Sanctuary Point and Yalwal who have been moved from ward two to three.
