Fr Michael Dyer, resident priest at Milton Catholic Parish was a spiritual director on 'The Way of St James El Camino Walk.
The 13-day tour, with 26 participants, started with a walk around Madrid, including a visit to the Church of St James and finished in Santiago de Compostela.
A coach was on hand to transport anyone who could not walk the distance each day.
The 120km-plus walk from Cebreiro included famous sights and landmarks along the way and the longest walk in one day on the itinerary was 24km, however, Fr Dyer reported trekking 30km one day.
Liz Baker, of Mollymook, also joined the group after leading a tour to Ireland.
Everyone enjoyed the journey, connecting with the countryside and the rich history of the area, Milton Catholic Parish publicity officer Vivienne Benson-Hodge said.
"The whole group bonded well and found the experience quite profound."
"This was Fr Michael's first pilgrimage as spiritual leader and he found the experience life enriching and inspiring."
