Our Town was created after co-founders Dick Shaw, Matthew Upson and Hamish Richardson lost mutual friends to cancer.
After a series of discussions they decided events of musical expression would be a way to boost community morale and inject funds into charity and the community.

"We had seen the pain with people passing and we thought 'we're in a position to do this'," Mr Shaw said.
Maureen Rogers and Haley Mees joined the trio and now the group is set to present its first event, alongside environmental community group Treading Lightly in the MUD.
Tim Rogers and Friends will be held on Saturday, November 16 at Dunn Lewis Centre. By partnering with Treading Lightly in the MUD, the aim is to have waste free events.
Patrons will receive a banquet dinner by Tallwood with a drink on arrival.
Supporting acts include Tall Shaun and the Resolution Blues, The Stayers, Number One Jockey, the Ulladulla High School Didg group and more.
"There is lots of local music, it's all for love, for fun and for joy," Mr Shaw said.
Whether as part of You Am I or as a solo artist, Rogers' trophy cabinet includes ARIAs for best male artist, best group, best independent release and album of the year. He has stood in front of 50,000 screaming rock fans, but is just as at home playing an acoustic guitar and joking with the locals at a show like Our Town is hosting.
