Ah, holidays, a time where we can relax, sleep in, go to the beach, go to the pub, stay in, stay out, be out with friends and family, get away from friends and family.
There's nothing like it.
For the people who drink too much intoxicating liquor or use illicit drugs and as a result assault their loved ones, damage property, or commit street offences, fail to quit the pubs and clubs, drive while intoxicated or simply ruin everyone's enjoyment, officers from the South Coast Police District will have surprises under their Christmas tree for you.
If you decide to take the risk and drive after consuming too many glasses of cheer, you will be caught and you will receive a free chauffeured trip to Nowra Police Station.
You will be able to spend time in the custody suite before being treated to a turn on our breath analysis machine.
Blow over .079 and we will immediately take your licence and suspend you from driving in NSW until your court date.
You will be given free paperwork and an invitation to attend the Nowra Courthouse where you will meet the magistrate, risking disqualification and a fine or both.
How are you going to get to your job? Pick up the kids, go on holidays if this happens?
Just remember, if you have a big night drinking, be aware, you may still be over the limit hours after waking up in the morning.
Do not be caught out.
If spending time at the local pub or club, remember, if you are asked to leave by a staff member for any reason, do not stand there arguing the toss, just leave.
If you do not leave a licensed premises when asked you will receive a $550 infringement notice for fail to quit, and or a penalty notice for remaining in the vicinity.
If you really want to continue your ugly behavior such as throwing a few punches or smashing property, you will be chauffeured to the Nowra Police Station, given the custody suite, then again attend court.
Please, over Christmas (and forever) enjoy yourself, enjoy your holidays, don't over indulge, don't become a statistic in the paper.
Remember you can Dob in a Druggie any time you like by contacting Nowra Police or ringing Crime Stoppers. Do not drink and drive. As always, in case of an emergency call 000. In non-emergencies call the Policelink on 131 444 or your local police station. To provide anonymous information call Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
