Tuesday 12th November: Hot and windy conditions deterred most. A few ladies braved the weather and got their bowls out. Today is the Milton Ulladulla Women's Club's 62nd year with a birthday celebration to be held on Thursday. Rink Winners: Kath Fraser and Carmen Colusso. Runners Up: Carol Monte, Doreen Dickson and Jan Winter.
Thursday 14th November Patrons/Foundation Day: President Robyn welcomed Cecile (Patron) and Life Members Jan Winter and Betty Longford, she then proceeded to give a history of the foundation of our club. Robyn thanked all those ladies who contributed behind the scenes. The day was concluded with the cutting of the Patron/Foundation cake. Rink Winners: Di Rupp, Margaret Penfold and Ralda Graham. The second finalist has been decided for the Alf Green handicap singles with Mike Frame getting to his second final appearance in two years in this format. It was certainly no walk in the park against Harvey Wootton who hung onto his handicap advantage for the majority of the game by playing some quite excellent draw bowls. There was a feeling among the spectators in the grandstand that we might be looking at a bit of a boilover, but Mike held his nerve and gradually clawed his way into the lead and held onto it by his fingernails. It was an excellent game of bowls with credit going to Harvey for really taking the game to Mike after only a couple of years in the game. So next Sunday at 12.30 we will witness the final between Mike and Clayton King and it promises to be a cracker. Come down and watch, it will be a ripper. Don't forget, the evening before is the presentation night which also promises to be a great night. You still have time to book a seat at the front desk. This Saturday just gone saw our Gold team travel to Kiama to compete in the Club Challenge but despite having quite a few wins, they did not win enough to progress to the next stage, but they were definitely competitive and can hold their heads high. Now, upcoming events on the board starts with the end of season prawn and ham day on Sat. 7th Dec.; Club fours entry form for next year is up, so get a team together and have a crack; also on the district board around the corner are the entry forms for the district fours;- open, senior and reserve fours. The district Reserve fours is for players with a pennant grading of 5 or lower or no grading at all.
