The South Coast resident has stayed to put out spot fires that might come near her half-acre home situated next door to bushland.
Ms Butler said she's been keeping a close eye on the Fires Near Me App, but was disappointed when it was unavailable yesterday and today.
"Yesterday we had smoke over the trees, if you looked, you would have sworn the fire was not that far away and the app was down so we couldn't check," she said.
"We're lucky the fire station is 100 metres away, we can run down and check. But we shouldn't have to bother the firefighters.
"That's the app we were told to use. It's not right."
On Tuesday the smoke was very thick in Bawley Point.
"I can hear the helicopter, dropping water bombs and getting as much done as it can today before the winds tonight," Ms Butler said.
Ms Butler and her partner Barrie are well prepared with water in additional pumps and a plan of where they'll go should it become too much to stay.

The family dog has also been extra attentive during the fires.
