IT comes as a shock when you drive down the Princes Highway following what must have been a terrible few days thanks to a beast of a bushfire.

You take it for granted that on both sides of the highway you will see stunning natural bushland but now this is not the case.
Blackened trees and ash are now common sights along the highway and it must have been a hellish thing to fight.
However, the fire fighting teams from the Rural Fire Service, NSW Fire and Rescue and NSW National Parks did just that - they took on the beast.
Without the firefighting teams, many homes would have been destroyed and possibly even lives lost.
Even though fatigue was etched all over their faces, they were out their today (Wednesday) fighting a great fight.
We as a community need to stand up and applaud these heroes - stay safe on the fire-front guys.
