A Canberra couple has reached out to family and friends to reassure them they're okay after Tuesday's deadly bushfires on the South Coast.
Christopher Hodder and wife Oana caught up with Batemans Bay Post journalists at the Batemans Bay Big 4 on Wharf Road on Wednesday morning.
"We're okay, to everyone else, I hope you're okay. If I can say to my family and friends in Canberra, Orange and Canowindra, we're all okay," he said.
Mr Hodder and he and his wife are grateful to all the people who are helping in the bushfire crisis.
"This has been a disastrous event; thank God for our rural firies and the people looking after us," he said.
