The Bureau of Meteorology recorded a temperature of 31 degrees in Nowra at about 1pm, with east-north-easterly winds of up to 28 kilometres an hour at 1pm on Friday, January 10.
At Jervis Bay airfield, it was a cooler 26 degrees, but wind gusts of up to 50 kilometres an hour were recorded.
The forecast southerly change, with gusts of up to 80km/h is currently predicted to hit the Shoalhaven after 8pm tonight.
Fire crews have spent the morning responding to flare ups and consolidating containment lines ahead of the change.
All fires in the Shoalhaven were at "advice" level at 1.20pm.
