Cricket is one of the sports that was rightfully put on hold when fires burnt all around the region over the past few weeks.
Getting out with mates for a hit or a bowl could well be a way for many people to get back to a sense of normality.
The most recent round of Shoalhaven District Cricket Association matches (set down for Saturday January 11 ) was called off due to the fires.
Prior to the emergency, many great matches were played and most teams, in all grades, had been in strong form.
Berry Shoalhaven Heads and Ulladulla United are currently leading the way in first grade.
The Magpies have won five matches this season and sits on top of the ladder with 73 points.
United is also enjoying a strong season and from its four wins has been able to compile 60 points.
Bomaderry has had a mixed season - as shown by its four wins and four losses this season.
The Tigers on 52 points currently sits in third place on the ladder.
Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemen's was expected to be one of the teams to beat and despite sitting in fourth spot on the ladder with 47 points The Army remains a real threat.
Rarely does Ex-Servos have more losses than victories - even at this time of the season.
The Army has been beaten four times this year and has only clocked up three victories.
Speaking of losses, North Nowra Cambewarra is struggling to keep in touch with the competition front-runners after being beaten five times this year.
Norths with its two wins sits on the bottom of the ladder with 34 points.
The association will make a decision soon about this weekend's proposed round of matches.
