The appeal of bridge is that it is an easy game to learn, a hard game to master and you don't have to be an expert to enjoy it. It is mentally challenging, an enjoyable social game that allows interaction with people from all walks of life, provides extensive opportunities to play competitively, it can be enjoyed anywhere in the world and if you are a traveler is a great retirement hobby.
Mollymook Bridge Club is a community organisation and is fortunate to have its own purpose-built clubhouse, thanks to the foresight and fund-raising efforts of early members. An afternoon or evening of bridge is inexpensive, currently just $3 including refreshments.
The club has arranged for Graham Evans to offer lessons for people interested in learning to play bridge. The lessons will be conducted weekly, during the day, or evening, depending on interest. The lessons are spread over six sessions of approximately three hours per session, and will be followed by some sessions of supervised play with experienced club members to reinforce the basic concepts.
There is no cost for the lessons, other than the price of the basic bridge handbook ($20).
If you are unsure, come along to an information session at 7pm on Tuesday, February 4, to clarify any issues with no commitment to continue.
Phone Graham on 4454 5462 to register your interest in attending the information session. If that date does not suit, let him know.
Graham is the club's first "home grown" achiever, having started as a registered bridge player at the Mollymook Club in the early 2000s. Graham played a little social bridge as a student, but did not play competitively until joining the Mollymook Club.
He is now a Grand Master having achieved this rank in 2019 so he has lots of helpful hints to pass on.
The lessons will be held in the Bridge clubhouse at 127 St Vincent's Street, Ulladulla, near Bunnings and opposite Great Outdoors.
