The 2020 Australian Surf Rowers League (ASRL) Open will be held at Mollymook Beach from February 14-16 February and thousands of surf life savers from far and wide will head to the Shoalhaven for three days of exhilarating surf boat racing.
This is the biggest stand-alone surf boat racing event in Australia with many divisions of surf boat racing, including open male, open female, reserve male, reserve female, under 23 male, under 23 female, under 19 male, under 19 female and masters.
The event also features Australia and New Zealand representative crews doing battle in a Trans-Tasman challenge, the Interstate championship.
The winner of each division to be crowned on Sunday, while the masters well be on Friday.
ASRL President Michael Brooks understands the group's members love to travel to locations they wouldn't normally visit.
He says going to areas like Mollymook Beach is what makes the 2020 ASRL Open a thrilling opportunity.
"The ASRL are committed to taking our premier event to new and exciting locations, and through the support of Destination NSW, Shoalhaven City Council and Mollymook SLSC, we are able to achieve this in 2020." Mr Brooks said.
Mr Brooks is confident the three days of racing will engage not just the surf life saving community from Mollymook and surrounding areas, but the wider community.
"This event will not only bring thousands of visitors to the region, it will engage with hundreds of Mollymook SLSC members, council representatives and other volunteers from the community. We encourage everyone to come down and experience what this event has to offer," he said.
NSW Minister for Tourism Stuart Ayres commended on the Government's commitment to ensuring the State's tourism and events industry continues to grow.
"The NSW Government is dedicated to ensuring we're supporting our tourism powerhouse and securing even more events to boost the visitor economy and maintain NSW's dominant position as Australia's premier destination and events State," Mr Ayres said.
"We look forward to welcoming competitors and their families to Mollymook next year for another standout NSW event and encourage people to start planning their trip to this beautiful part of the State."
Mollymook SLSC Club President Ron Austin OAM is confident the club members and wider community will rally to help deliver a successful event.
"Mollymook has a proud history of running major events on its beach, with strong membership, always enjoying strong community support, enabling us to run these events successfully," Mr Austin said.
There is no cost for participants to witness the action over the three days which makes it an affordable activity for families to come down to the beach, have a wonderful weekend and check out the best surf boat rowers compete from across Australia.

Meanwhile, more than 5500 people are expected to spend millions of dollars in the Milton-Ulladulla district when the biggest stand-alone surfboat event in Australia is held at Mollymook.
Council's acting tourism manager Shannan Perry-Hall said the sports tourism event was expected to inject more than $2 million into the region.
In the wake of the Currowan bushfire crisis, the event has come at a good time. Ms Perry-Hall said council's visitors services team will be at Mollymook, trying to help maximise the economic output of visitors.
"We want to encourage visitors to stay longer and spend," Ms Perry-Hall.
Organisers have confirmed 328 crews have registered for the competition. Mollymook Surf Life Saving Club has registered five crews for the event - 200 years men, reserve women, two in reserve men and under 23 men's competitions.
