Both the Ulladulla and Culburra Beach Boardirders gave their all, during a competition which saw North Shore win a last-minute final against North Shelly, North Narrabeen and Bondi - thanks to Alister Reginato's final wave of 8.15.
The Ulladulla Boardriders squad, featuring Keira Buckpitt, Aidan Parson, Brett Burcher, Luke O'Connell, Christian Pimm, Ben Buckpitt, Beau Buckpitt, Adam Richards, Nakita Helman and Russell Bierke took on Le Ba, Torquay and Point Lookout in heat two of the opening round.
Despite registering a score of 21.15, Ulladulla finished fourth in their heat, behind Le Ba (36.90), Torquay (32.90) and Point Lookout (31.95).
The Culburra Beach Boardriders team, who won the 2018 event, consisting of Owen Wright, Jordy Watson, Ty Watson, Ben Warne, Kirby Wright and Dax Caincross, started in heat three of round one.
Their score of 24.45 saw them also finish in fourth, being edged out by Elouera (37.35), Burleigh Heads (28.50) and Kingscliff (25.15).
Now in its seventh season, the Australian Boardriders Battle is the country's biggest grassroots boardriders event, involving more than 60 of Australia's best boardrider clubs and $110,000 in prize money.
