Sergeant Greg Churchill has commended the trio for their dedication and bravery on New Year's Eve.
While others were driving south, away from the threat, they drove north. At points flames were licking the sides of their police vehicles, trees were burning and beginning to fall, power poles were under threat, but that did not stop them from guiding people to Milton.
Two were on Egans Farm Lane while one was stationed at Bendalong Road turn-off. Eventually, they all linked up at Bendalong Road to lead people to safety while under direct threat of the Currowan bushfire.
"These officers put their own lives at risk to help evacuate others," sergeant Churchill said.
Sergeant Churchill also praised the support of officers from various stations in Sydney. Most had given up their holiday times to help the area in the days after the New Year's Eve fire.
Their main duty was to provide a presence and to stop looting in the villages of Conjola Park, Lake Conjola, Fishermans Paradise, Bendalong and Manyana.
"Operations were running over 24 hours for three to four weeks."
