2pm: Marine Rescue Monaro regional operations manager Glenn Sullivan says the search for the man was continuing.
Two Marine Rescue vessels, with Narooma and Bermagui crews, were searching offshore around the Narooma bar area.
Four jet skis, including two from Narooma and two from Tuross, were part of a team involved in an inshore search.
Mr Sullivan said at the time of the incident, there was a 2.5 metre swell and it was still dark.
He said the boat was not logged on with Marine Rescue.
The overturned boat was retrieved by a private vessel.
He said all other vessels assisting in the incident were logged on with Marine Rescue.
There was an incoming tide earlier today, but there was now an outgoing tide.
9.30am: Police NSW said at about 6.30am, emergency services received reports a boat had overturned near the inlet at the Bar Rock Road, Narooma, with two men entering the water.
"One man was retrieved and members of the public performed CPR on him prior to emergency services' arrival," police said.
"NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated the man but he later died.
"The second man remains outstanding and officers attached to Marine Area Command have commenced a search, assisted by Marine Rescue, Westpac helicopter, Surf Life Saving Australia and South Coast Police District. Inquiries are continuing."
9am: A Marine Rescue Narooma crew and the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter are searching for a person feared missing off the Narooma bar on Tuesday morning, March 10.
Marine Rescue NSW said a person was feared missing after a small runabout rolled in the dark.
"Four rescue watercraft from Marine Rescue Narooma and Tuross and a rescue vessel from MR Bermagui are joining the operation and nearby boaters are assisting," Marine Rescue NSW said.
It was reported that a boater had retrieved a person from the water and transported them to the wharf to meet a waiting NSW Ambulance.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said paramedics were called at about 6.30am and performed CPR on one patient but was unable to provide further details.
Witnesses reported seeing a second person on board the small open runabout before it overturned.
Lifesaver 23 said a "tinny" had been reported overturned and one person had been found, but another remained missing.
