Numerous RATS and friends turned out on a pristine morning, with the dolphins putting on a proper show at Mollymook, for the first calendar event of the year. The handicap trial establishes the initial starting times for participants in either the 5.5 km or 10 km point score series.
The timekeeper watched on with some amusement as the runners returned, many with petrol still in the tank. Certainly, some strategy in that. However, the handicapper reminds all participants, that the handicap system is self-levelling and discretionary adjustments can also be made, to provide a level playing field.
It was great to see all the regular faces once again and also to welcome a couple of first timers and returning RATS. Sunday's results follow and the starting handicaps for event 1, on April 19, will be emailed to all participants.

RATS change of president:
Due to the current health situation, the RATS will postpone their AGM to the second half of this year. The current president, Nicola Rabbett is stepping down and all the RATS would like to thank her for her significant contribution over the last 12 months. The current vice president, Lauri Perino, will be stepping into the president's role, until a suitable time can be found to hold the AGM.
Local Running - Next Sunday - March 29:
Porters Creek Dam Run. New meeting location, due to the inappropriateness of carpooling, in the current climate: Please turn left off the highway onto Porters Creek Road. Keep heading up the hill, where this road becomes Pointer Gap Road. Keep going until just after the large rock formation on the right and then stop at the intersection of Pointer Gap Road and Pointer Gap Lookout Road (turn off to the lookout). If you get to the T intersection, you have gone a km too far, come back. Please be there by 6.30am, which means you have to allow an extra 10 to 15 minutes to get up the hill.
Regular Running Training:
- Tuesday: 6am, meet at Narrawallee Inlet, for flat interval training, hill or stair work. Suitable for beginners and serious athletes, distances from 1.7km.
- Wednesday: 6am, meet at Macca's car park, up to 10km.
- Friday: 6am, meet at Mollymook Surf Club car park, up to 10km.
- Saturday: 8am, Batemans Bay or Huskisson parkruns, 5km, are always good options.
- Sunday: runs will generally start at 6.30am - Handicaps start at 7am.
All Welcome:
The Ulladulla RATS welcome guests, visitors and potential new members to join them, for any of their runs. All standards catered for. There is no initial fee, just go along and join in. You are not obliged to run, or walk, the full distance and can turn back at any stage. For further information: ring or text Lauri on 0438 44 55 73.

Wednesday Social Bowls Winners - A. Walsh, Paul Clarke & Dave Stevenson. Runners Up - Bill Bellamy, Xavier Micallef and Graham Cooper.
Friday Social Bowls Winners - Jo & Rob Cattley +31. Runners Up 'That man again' Xavier Micallef and Charlie Fucile +17
All Lawn Bowls, Pennants and Roll Up's have been cancelled until further notice... As sure as eggs is eggs, normal service WILL resume! - Keep practising at home gentlemen and remember One Egg is an Oeuf...
Mollymook Roadrunners
Covid 19 seems to have limited the number of Roadrunners to only 17 last Sunday morning. Two games of triples and a pairs game were played with the following results: Wendy Lynn, Eric King and Bob Brooks 29 defeated Harry Williams, Les Dunn and David White 17. Michael Dundas and Geoff Watson 22 accounted for Mike Lynn and Gordon Lang 16 with Robin Oke as a swinging lead. Graham Corby and Paul Barnes 23 held off Di and Jack Field 16.
The winning rink was the team of Robin Oke, Michael Dundas and Geoff Watson who received a fresh chicken each and the losing rink of Di and Jack Field received half their green fees back.
Raffle winners included Mike Lynn, Harry Williams, Bob Brooks, Geoff Watson, Sue Dent, Eric King and Tim Denini.
Because of the State Government's instruction today (Sunday) that all non-essential services are to close within 24 hours the club and therefore the bowling greens will not be available next week. We hope to see you all again soon.
