The community based recreational and social activities hub was recently closed due to the ever-escalating COVID-19 health crisis.
Centre Director Gayle Dunn said the decision to close was regrettable and added they were in the same situation as many other local businesses.
The centre is a popular venue for all sections of the community - young and the not so young.
Gayle knew this tough decision was heading the centre's way and she was able to forewarn the centre's staff members about what they were about to face.
The centre employs many young casual workers and it's a great place for youths to get work experience.
"This decision has not been made lightly and is in the best interests of our patrons," Gayle said.
"The closure has been deemed the best course of action in consideration of the NSW Health Department's guideline around social distancing.
"It's our obligation to ensure the health and safety of our patrons, many of whom are elderly."
Gayle does not know when the centre will re-open. However, she is sure the centre will reopen in the future.
"We believe by taking this preventative action early, the Dunn Lewis Centre, together with our local community and valued visitors, will bounce back sooner and stronger," she said.

Gayle added she hopes all the other recently closed businesses will also bounce back.
"Thank you for your support and understanding of our need to make this difficult decision," was a message Gayle wanted to pass onto the community.
She looks forward to welcoming the community back to the centre as soon as possible.
Gayle added the new auditorium would be waiting for them to use.
