With the knowledge that it was going to be their last tennis for a while, the juniors really put in a big effort in their matches resulting in some great tennis being on display. Not a player from any of the matches walked away without having given their best.
The Division 2 grand final was an extremely tight affair which came down to the result of the last match. To add to the occasion that match was locked at 3 all and looking likely to be headed for a draw until Lucas McDonald and Christian Norman managed to steer Team McDonald home, winning the last 2 games of the match for a 5-3 victory. At the other end of the court Kolt Pinches and Anto Newton really gave their all for Team Pinches and should be proud of their effort.
The other combatants for Team McDonald, James Horvat and Mitchell Rejc, as well as Ashton Gumley and Tayla Makarenko for Team Pinches, also put in great efforts with James and Mitchell winning their singles matches while Ashton and Tayla matched their efforts winning their doubles matches.
In Division 1 competition front runners Team Donald, consisting of Sean Donald, Tom Malligan, Tiahna Pinches and Poppy Gillespie, managed to hold out Rowan Ogilvy, Reece Manessah, Adrian Le and Kai Snyders of Team Ogilvy. The team Ogilvy Quartet really pushed their opponents in each of the matches. Of the 8 matches in the tie 3 matches were drawn and 4 played out either way at 5-3 results.
The deciding factor of the tie was probably that Team Donald players Sean and Tom managed to get through the tie without dropping a match while just Adrian Le managed to match the feat for Team Ogilvy. The final tally for the day ended at 36 games to 28.
