With social distancing practices and restrictions on public gatherings currently in place, Laing O'Rourke, who are coordinating the local bushfire recovery clean-up, turned to the internet on Wednesday night as a new and innovative way of continuing to engage its stakeholders and provide information on what local contractors wishing to be hired to carry out the work require.
A Laing O'Rourke spokesperson said the company was "delighted" with the result.
"We were thrilled with the turnout, with more than 250 people attending online to hear about the works we are carrying out in the Shoalhaven and how we might be able to work with them," the spokesperson said.

The panel hosting the event included representatives from Laing O'Rourke and Shoalhaven Council.
"This was our first online industry briefing," the spokesperson said.
"Our team outlined our procurement strategy - including how this focuses on hiring local contractors first before looking outside of the local LGA - the scope of works, and project needs to assist local contractors who are interested in registering their business for the bushfire clean-up.
"We are keen to demonstrate we can continue the important task of the NSW bushfire clean-up despite the current challenges the country is facing.
"Participants were given the opportunity to ask questions of the panel, and given the significant interest in the event, we kept the event running over time so we could respond to as many questions as possible."
For those who weren't able to dial into Wednesday night's information briefing, a recording of the event will be made available on the Laing O'Rourke bushfire clean-up website (https://cleanup.lnbr.com.au/) shortly.
