We built the bridge now let's build the town.

Scale it back, reduce the noise pollution
I urge the community to stand up and support us in our petition in opposing the current Edgewater proposal.
We are not "obsessed with poor quality, run down architecture." We are residents that care about our area.
The proposal is too large and to high for the site and area.
You can still achieve same benefits with the proposal scaled down and back from the foreshore. Remove the roof top terrace/bar.
Noise pollution will affect many residents in the area of Burrill Lake. Noise travels very well on water.

Development puts lake views at risk
My first concern is the Edgewater building extending into the water, blocking the foreshore.
My second is, such a large double storey plus from ground surface, would surely obstruct views of others living nearby.
Those living on the foreshore, shouldn't have their properties devalued as a result of views being destroyed, noise levels increasing by such a big motel.
Not against progress, just large unnecessary ones. Including Wason St near Harbour, so out of place.

Time to ditch meat
The outbreak of COVID-19 at a Melbourne slaughterhouse shows the urgency of dumping the meat habit.
Slaughterhouses not only put workers and the public health at risk but also cause the agonising, bloody deaths of hundreds of millions of animals every year.
Factory farms and slaughterhouses are as filthy as China's "wet markets," their floors covered with blood, urine, faeces, and offal.
The novel coronavirus originated in a Chinese wet market where live and dead animals were sold for human consumption, swine flu began on a US factory farm, and other influenza viruses have been traced to chickens.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns that approximately 75 per cent of recently emerged infectious diseases affecting humans originated in other animals.
Closing slaughterhouses doesn't mean a food shortage, because no one needs meat.
Consuming it is linked to heart disease, cancer, strokes, high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity.
The only thing at risk when slaughterhouses close is the meat industry's bottom line.

Save remaining forest
I urge all local residents to get behind the campaign to save some of the only remaining bushland in Manyana from development.
This bushland is home to so many native animals and to destroy it before the surrounding bush has time to regenerate from the fire is just signing the death sentence for so many native wildlife.
Lets stop, breathe and let the bush recover.
