Member for South Coast Shelley Hancock MP said the grants would assist local sporting organisations as COVID-19 restrictions slowly ease.
"Sport is a vital part of the fabric of the South Coast community," Hancock said.
"These grants will provide essential funds to help our organisations increase participation as we slowly ease restrictions and will benefit our community in the long run."
Successful applicants include St Georges Basin Country Club Little Athletics (purchase of track, field and fitness equipment), Manyana Football Club (purchase of wellbeing program, oval facilities, surface and equipment upgrade), Mollymook Surf Lifesaving Club (purchase of adjustable surf skis and paddles), Shoalhaven Netball Association (purchase of new goal post pads) and Shoalhaven District Football Association (construction of new player shelters).
Acting minister for sport Geoff Lee said 955 projects across NSW have been awarded funding as part of the local sport grants program.
"We are all looking forward to seeing community sport return to normal when it is safe to do so and this money will provide vital funds to help organisations be ready to resume as COVID19 restrictions are lifted," Lee said.
"Some organisations will buy uniforms for kids to relieve financial pressures on families while others will increase female participation and leadership in sport.
"Women's sport has experienced enormous success and growth both on and off the field in recent years and we want that momentum to be revived after the worst of COVID-19 has passed."
Regional NSW will benefit from more than $2 million in grants for local communities, which will particularly help those affected by drought, bushfires and COVID-19.
"Drought, bushfires and now the COVID-19 pandemic have created significant uncertainty for sport in NSW, particularly in regional areas," Hancock said.
"People on the South Coast love sport and this money will be a massive boost for regional sporting organisations, which not only help our communities stay active and healthy but also perform a vital role keeping people connected."
The local sport grants program awards sporting organisations up to $20,000 for projects which focus on development and participation, access and facility development.
Other South Coast organisations to receive grants in the program were; Bay and Basin Community Nippers, Culburra Beach Boardriders, Shoalhaven Giants, Jervis Bay Sailing Club, Milton Pony Club, Lake Conjola Bowling and Recreation Club, St Georges Basin Football Club, Milton-Ulladulla Football Club, Shoalhaven Clay Target Club, Jervis Bay Cruising Yacht Club, Ulladulla Dockers, AFL South Coast, Nowra Waterdragons and Outriggers Canoe Club, Working Equitation Down Under, Makai Paddlers Society and Jervis Bay Outrigger Canoe Club.
