The reigning premiers, headlined by Milton-Ulladulla's Chris Price and Shoalhaven Heads' Brendan Low, returned to training on Saturday, with the side eager to start playing again.
"It was great to have everyone back," Wilkshire said.
"It wasn't compulsory, but everyone turned up.
"They were happy to see each other and be back on the field, though they weren't exactly doing what they love, they did a lot of running and testing."
There have been reports that some clubs have pushed for this year's competition to be abandoned, with teams unable to pay players as revenue streams have dried up.
The Wolves, however, are eager for the season to restart as soon as government restrictions allow and Wilkshire believes games should be played if it is safe to do so.
"We're waiting for Football NSW for their guidance, we're hopeful of a July resumption.
"I don't think there should be any concerns about this season. Everybody needs football and needs sport.
"I understand the financial strain for clubs, but that doesn't mean you don't play.
"Clubs need to find what they can and can't do and players need to understand that. Ultimately, players need to play."
