The Manyana Matters campaigners just received notification from that the Federal Court has made orders noting an undertaking by Ozy Homes to allow independent ecologist Professor David Lindenmayer or someone nominated by him, to conduct an ecological survey on the site with respect to the threatened greater glider.
David Lindenmayer, AO, is an Australian scientist and academic. He is an expert in landscape ecology, conservation and biodiversity.
Developer Ozy Homes has made an undertaking to the court to stop all work on the site with the exception of fencing around the perimeter.
"We are grateful to have been given this time for the independent expert to assess the conservation value of this land for the greater glider and other threatened species," a Manyana Matters spokesperson said
The independent ecologist will be granted access to the site for three days and nights.
The matter is scheduled to be heard by the Federal Court again on June 5.
"We are very grateful to have the Environmental Defenders Office representing us in this case," the spokesperson said.
