The Jamberoo Superoos, who lost to Kiama in last year's Group Seven decider, can attest to that.

As such, the Superoos have added more firepower to their already imposing forward pack, to help their chances of going one better.

In April, the 2017 Group Seven premiers announced the signing of reigning Michael Cronin Medal winner Daniel Burke.

Now the Kevin Walsh Oval-based club has unveiled the addition of Jayden Morgan.

After finishing his junior career at Albion Park-Oak Flats, Morgan transitioned into the St George Illawarra system, which has seen him be a part of their NSW Canterbury Cup set-up since 2018.

But after this year's NSW Cup competition was cancelled, the 21-year-old was forced to find a new club for 2020.

"It was very disappointing when we heard the news about NSW Cup being cancelled," Morgan said.

"I was training strongly and everything was pointing towards me having one of my biggest years to date.

"The club [Dragons] was really happy with where I was at, shown by them handing me a jersey for the first grade trial match against Newcastle.

"That opportunity was massive for me, as it was one of the goals my manager and Ian Millward had discussed at the start of the season."

But instead of staying disappointed during lockdown, the former NSW under 20s squad member dug deep on the training track, to not let his pre-season go to waste.

"I've been working hard to stay fit during lockdown," Morgan said.

"My manager has been helpful, sending me a number of programs, especially running, to keep me on my feet and stay sharp.

"Because of this, it wasn't hard to stay motivated during lockdown.

"I'm the type of bloke who can't sit still and am constantly staying busy - anything from fishing to weights, it all helps keep me active."

During this lockdown, Morgan and his family also had to deal with the passing of his stepfather Darryl.

"The past few months have been extremely tough on my family and I," he said.

"He [Darryl] has been there for me every second of my footy journey and always pointed me in the right direction.

"Everything I do from here on out will be for him.

"I'm not coming back to park footy to just play for a club - I'm coming back full steam ahead and I'm ready to rip right in, just like he would want me to."

It was through these tough months that he decided to sign with the green and reds.

"I chose to play with Jamberoo because a couple of mates, who have stuck by me the past few tough months, are at the club and love it there," Morgan, who last played in Group Seven with the Shellharbour Sharks, said.

"Jono Dallas [Jamberoo captain/coach] has been especially good to me.

"He's been there to help me with everything that's going on - we've barely spoken about footy at all, which has been nice.

"They've got a really strong side at Jamberoo and I hope to be able to add to that, by bringing aspects I've learnt at the Dragons to benefit the club.

"On top of that, as a middle-forward, I hope to lead from the front with aggression and intensity and do whatever the team need to do on the park."

When Group Seven's season does kick-off, slated for July 18, Morgan has a number of personal goals.

"I'm definitely not coming back to Group Seven just to have a run-around," Morgan, who was part of the South Coast Black Cockatoos side that won the 2019 Koori Knockout, said.

"I will be coming back to give 100 per cent and doing everything possible to be at my best each week, as I'm looking to go back into the Dragons next year.

"As for team goals, we are a real close brotherhood, who will all be working towards one goal, which is a premiership.

"With all I've been through the past few months, winning a premiership would mean the world to me and I can't wait to try and help Jamberoo achieve that goal."
