When Damian McGill took a walk through Ulladulla, he noticed the Vinnies op-shop had opened. The place had been closed due to COVID-19 restrictions but the easing of those rules means, like many businesses, it was time to reopen. Good news for bargain hunters. Having endured a summer of bushfires and an autumn and winter of lockdown, it's up to all of us to get behind our local businesses and help the district economy get back on its feet.

Speaking of feet, we were mightily impressed by the El Togby brothers and their ongoing and brilliantly expressed campaign against racism. For years, they've been wearing one white and one black sock to make the point that we should all be treated equally and with respect. Courtney Ward did a fantastic job telling their story.
Meanwhile, Shoalhaven City Council has voted to let staff determine whether the Edgewater motel proposal at Burrill Lake will go ahead. There is still a lot to play out with this development application so I urge readers with strong views either way to drop us a letter to the editor.
One letter we did receive this week presented a different take on the Manyana land slated for development. The author argued that should the development be stopped, it would be at great cost to the local economy. I'd certainly be interested to hear your thoughts on this argument.
One small piece of news - that council was providing three free green waste vouchers to ratepayers reignited that old debate about green waste bins, with renewed calls for them to be made available.
