Debbie Brereton, 60, of Manyana was found guilty of intentionally causing a fire and being reckless as to its spread in Sydney Downing Centre's District Court on June 24.

Court papers said Brereton lit a fire at Bendalong on November 21, 2009.

Brereton was charged by members of the State Crime Command Property Crime Squad, as part of Strike Force Toronto investigating arson attacks in the area.

She was also found not guilty of two other charges of intentionally causing a fire and being reckless as to its spread.

Judge Dina Yehia sentenced Brereton to three years' jail from November 9, 2018, with a non-parole period of one year and eight months.

She is eligible for released on parole on July 8, 2020.

Judge Yehia also strongly recommended Brereton be referred to a registered psychologist, or delegate, for ongoing counselling and treatment upon her release.
