IT was a decision the organisers of the 2020 South Coast Craft Beer Festival knew they had to make.
The festival, due to be held in October at the Milton Showground, has been cancelled due to COVID-19.
The organisers announced the decision online this week
The festival organisers felt it would be irresponsible for them to try and move forward at this stage given the current COVID-19 conditions.
They believed the conditions would still be in play in mid October.
"A COVID outbreak arising from our festival would be a blow to the entire community - not to mention also potentially stalling the important work that BlazeAid are running out of the Showground to help rebuild from the summer bushfires," the online statement read.
"As a not-for-profit, charitable enterprise it is essential that we put the safety of our community first at all times.
"We will be providing refunds for all ticket holders in the coming week so please keep an eye out for that if you have already purchased your ticket."
The festival is looking forward to a triumphant return in 2021.
