Due to the unpredictable state of affairs with COVID-19, the Milton Theatre has decided to postpone all shows at least until 2021.

The committee made the decision to put the health and safety of its patrons and volunteer staff first.

Rob said the theatre would suffer a financial loss but added others had a greater burden to carry.

"It's all the artists I feel sorry for and they are all struggling," he said.

"Hopefully they will be alright."

He has the deepest respect for artists and said they play an important role in lifting the community's spirit.

Rob worked out that under the COVID-19 safety guidelines that opening such a small venue would not be a viable option.

The theatre would have been only able to fit in 50 people.

The Times spoke to Rob earlier in the year and at that stage he was hopeful things would get better.

Refunds for all tickets for the remaining 2020 shows are being processed.

"People have been really understanding and some say to donate the money back to theatre," Rob said.

He would like to thank all the theatre long-standing patrons for their support and understanding during these difficult times.

"People have been really good and understanding, for the most part," he said.

New dates for postponed shows will be announced in the coming months.
