It was a natural step to create a special cultural CD so they could share their knowledge of Country to encourage a better understanding of all creatures in our environment.
Braidwood Preschool provided a grant that enabled Trish and Noel Butler to record their stories and songs.
The original plan was to provide the CD for the children at Braidwood Preschool, Ulladulla Children's Centre, Milton Ulladulla Preschool and Milton Early Foundations, the schools where Trish and Noel entertain while educating the kids in traditional indigenous culture and language.
However, the CD was so well received by those early learning centres that it will now be shared with all preschool age children throughout the country.
Noel is a respected Yuin Elder, teacher, mentor, historian and chef who has spent many years delivering educational programs to all sectors.
He has taken his cultural teachings overseas and is an accomplished speaker who imparts his knowledge on traditional cultural values including environmental education and conservation with passion and urgency.
Trish is a guitarist and singer songwriter who manages the Nura Gunyu Aboriginal Cultural Education centre and coeducates with Noel Butler on their 100 acre property.
Trish teaches children at local preschools and primary schools about Australian native animals through music, song and dance. Noel has an engaging way of narrating the stories that explains the traditional background to each of the animals and birds.
Trish follows up with her catchy songs that kids love singing and dancing along to.
"We are grateful to all our preschool children who gave us the inspiration to share our stories and knowledge through song and dance," Trish said.
"We hope that this has given the kids a greater understanding of their natural surroundings."
The CD was recorded and produced by founding member of The Seekers, Keith Potger AO who was really impressed by the immediate appeal of Trish's songs and Noel's cultural stories.
